The Dice and Rolls of Life February 6, 2009

Wel, it has been awhile, and lots has gone on. Monday was eerily good. The time went fast, Jeff came over and joked around with us which always made my day, but it was short lived because right before I was going home, I was told that sales were slow. I knew this couldn’t be good, but hat could I do. Instead of laying me off they wanted me to become a 1099, which is like a freelance designer, only I have to take out my own taxes. Annnnd they wanted me to work from home on the projects they give me. Doesn’t sound too bad right? True, but I want a full time job ya know? I want a steady pay check with the steady hours I put in. Anyway, I went in Tuesday and we got a computer working…it took 4 hours!!!!! I was so stressed out on the inside I couldn’t wait to get home. I took a nap and then we went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse because it was Chandler’s 10 birthday (Matt’s cousin’s little boy). Matt’s aunt had been concerned about her job at the car manufacturing company and it was this week that her section was up for being laid off. We went to the near by Best Buy and picked up Zach and Miri Make a Porno (hilarious) and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (a new one to me). We came home and watched Nick and Norah and that movie is FANTASTIC! It’s going to be a regularly watched movie. GO SEE IT! I had calmed down by then, but knew I still want to keep my options open for things. Wednesday we got up, had breakfast, watched some TV and then got ready and we went to the gym for awhile. I actually did some running on the treadmill (I hate running so I never do it)…I dunnnnnno if it was the stress that’s been slowly eating at me or the fact that Powerman 5000′s song When Worlds Collide came on, but I just had to run (a very Forest Gump line don’t you think?). After the gym I took Matt to the VW service place to pick up his car. I went home after I dropped him off and he came home a little after me. I was in the process of booking a flight home and arranging for Noel, my fur child of a cat, to fly back to Utah, when Matthew came home and was puddering around and put a plate of something wrapped up in front of me. He had stopped by the homemade tamale place and picked some up and made me one for lunch…it was delicious. We stayed in and watched What Women Want (one of the romantic comedies he brought home) and then went to bed.

Thursday (yesterday), I went to the nail salon. I waiiiiiited forever, but I wasn’t in a hurry so eh, didn’t bother me. These three girls, at the time, were waiting when I ha just sat down. I seriously seriously thought they were in high school. There were two other girls at the nail stations who def seemed like they were in high school and the one was quite and pretty, while the other was talking up a storm to the guy doing her nails about this and that and I heard her talk about her boyfriend who was 25 and the guy was like “um how old are you?” and she replied “19…but it works and theres no problem with it.” I’m not a stickler for age, but to me that was a lil much. Atleast for that age if it was like a 23 year old and 31 year old…ehhhh it OKAY, but at least both parties have had some maturing…geez. Back to the three girls. they were all getting pedi’s and before they sat in the pedi chairs the skinny girl…omg…was giving political advice. “Let’s just bomb the whole country and high tail it out.” Genius? (sarcasm) though I wish sometimes…anyway the way this girl looked was tragic. Her nails acrylic nails were long and the tips seemed to flare out a lil (it was a lil weird) but the tip colors (yes colors) were bright purple and green sparkly!!! It was thickly done and it looked retarded…I’m sorry, but that nail job was haaaaaanious. Now, her hair had that smoothed down front part and the 80′s teased top on the rest of her head going on. She was a mess…but she was married…surprise! Yea she was married to a military guy. Then I thought about the other two…yea they BOTH had kids…I think the skinny one did too, but can’t remember. These girls didn’t look a day over 20 and the one had a 5 year old!? HOW OLD WERE THEY!? It was disturbing. Then when I was almost done my fill, 3 other girls walked in HOW I KNOOOOOOW HAD TO BE in high school and the current 3 girls were all like “Haaaaaaaaay!” Omg I was so confused lol. After my nails I went to Walmart because I was in desperate need of a desk. I found an L shaped one that was perfect and would fit and I grabbed a small desk lamp and peaced out. The desk was VERY heavy. When I got home I ended up rolling it into the house and then took the next several hours putting it together, cleaning, and putting computers together. Still not done in the computer hooking up area, but I’m close. I also found out yesterday 2 things, one bad, and one very good. Let’s do the bad news first. Michelle, Matt’s aunt got the word she was laid off and Matt said he heard she wasn’t happy…I don’t blame her. In good news MY BROTHER HAD HIS BABY!!!!!! Dork didn’t call me…but Jane, my step mom emailed me saying SHHHHEEEEE, yes I have a new niece was doing just perfect she was 8 pounds 9 ounces and 20 inches long. Her name is Simone Bailey Hymiller and she’s super cute from the two pics I got. She has my nose when I was a baby, so she def inherited the Hymiller girl nose. I can’t wait to see her when I come home at the end of the month. Back to life here now. I watched Grey’s double episode thing with Private Practice which was pretty cool and it was good. Matt came home a liiil after after 11 and we sat down and watched Food Network (Ace of Cakes!) then went to bed. I’m gonna work on “work” today and try to get it at least a design of my choice built. I just made a pizza so I’m gonna peace out and eat it! Caio!

Crabcakes and Football!…That’s What Maryland Does! February 2, 2009

…yes a good ol quote from the movie Wedding Crashers. Yesterday was Super Bowl as many of you well know. I planned on going over Matt’s aunt’s house to hang out with Tonya an Michelle. They decided not to go to their friend’s place so they stayed home and I drove over there. I boldly made the decision to make crab dip for the festivities and lets just say I made some meeeeeeeeannnnnnnnn crab dip. Michelle, Matt’s aunt said it was excellent. Matt got his hands on it later on after work and ate a good portion of it. Anyway the Cardinals lost…damn…effing Steelers. And what was that last play where it didn’t get called!? Sonnn of a bitch! Horrible. Meh…I watched the office afterward until Mat came over. We went home and watched The Breakup because Mr. Movie decided to get us a few good romantic comedies, being it Feb. and all. I pretty much was close to falling asleep during the movie because I was exhausted.

This morning before I could mascara my other eye, 10 mins after I was up, Matt was dressed for work and grab his keys. Apparently he got called in right then and there was out the door before I could even say bye. Good news is he’ll be home tonight around the same time as me, Which I’m happy about. And I’m back to the grind, pretty sure we all are. Hopefully things will stay busy til 5 because I hate just sitting here doing practically nothing. Gotta run. xox

Confessions of a Shopaholic February 1, 2009

Evening from Utah! Last night Matt and I went out to a movie and saw Bride Wars. He was prolly 1 of two guys there, but he knows I have no one to go see those kinds of movies with and it would look pretty pathetic if I went by myself, even though doing that doesn’t bother me, but he wanted to go with me. The movie was decent, I thought it was pretty funny/entertaining. The ending however could have been better. On a side note everyone keeps talking about the movie Grand Torino. My mom, Lindsay, and my grand parents said it was really good, but ehh I dunno…I’ll wait for it to come out on video and for Matt to buy it ha! I drank some cranberry juice with a lil vodka last night and I ended up suuuper tired and slept amaaaaazing last night. Today I got up and ready and I decided to hit up the outlets in Park City, an hour away from our house..wow. The drive was beeeeeeaaaaauuuutttiful and def. is a ski town for sure. Took me a lil bit to find the place, but I did. Had a ball shopping, getting some new work clothes since personal appearance is pretty important to my boss. So after shopping I returned and put everything away and then proceeded to go on an hour walk with Calvin ( our pit bull ). I am now listening to Shiny Toy Guns and some of their new songs and some of their old ones. I need to make a new cd since I ‘ve been listening to the same cd over and over everyday for a few months lol. I’m watching the end of The Mummy Returns right now because 13 Going on 30 is on next and I like that movie. I called Tonya, Matt’s aunt’s girlfriend to see what those two were doing for Super Bowl. They invited me to go with them to their friend’s place. I thought it was funny how she was like ” Hope you don’t mind hanging out with a bunch of lesibans.” Yea…like that would bother me…hah. Matt insisted I call them since he has to work til close tomorrow and thought I would like to watch the game with someone other than myself and enjoy some beer and good food. So, I will be picked up tomorrow a lil after 3. I want to make crab dip, so I’m gonna try and attempt that tomorrow. We will see how it goes. Hopefully Matt can join me wherever we go when he gets off. I will announce that I will be rooting for the Cardinals since I HATE the Steelers. I’m gonna state that fact again…IIIII HAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEe the god damn Steelers. Hope the Cardinals woop their asses.

Today was a slow day for me. It’s 4:08 and thank god because I am ready to go home. I woke up seriously tired. You know those days when you wake up to your alarm and you think you juuust went to bed…that was me this morning.

Last night however went by so slow and it was amazing. We didn’t go to yoga, Matt was too sore from working out 4 days in a row so we opted to watch a lil Saturday Night Live the Best of Chris Farley while dinner was cooking. Yea, I came home to dinner already cooking, he decided to make porkchops and a batch of what consisted of turkey kielbasa, potatoes, carrots, I think a little cheese, and I believe some cauliflower. It was awesome. I made brownies last night too because I was in that weird mood to bake something. We watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Can’t Hardly Wait last night as well. We also joked about how I have no friends yet here in Utah. See, I really wanna see Bride Wars, but of course I wouldn’t ask Matt to go because like he wants to see it hah. He started kissing me on the head and laughed how he would go see it with me. He also said it took him 6 months when he moved to MD to find a friend and a year to find a girlfriend and he stated I was ahead of the game. hahahah. However today at work my good friend Brian called me. Brian was my buddy in senior studio my last quarter of SCAD. We worked together and goofed off together. Pretty much a team…team awesome. Anyway, he lives in Colorado and has now started working for his dad’s company. He mentioned they wanted to expand to Utah and he would then work there. I hooooope that happens then I’ll have my buddy in this state and I’ll have someone to entertain with while my love is at work. So he asked how I liked it here and that he’s flying in for the day tomorrow for the company, but will be back. He’s trying to get his gf to move out to Utah too, but I don’t think she’s having that. However, if she did and we ended up getting along, then I’d have two friends! PLUS (BONUS) she’s a chick so I’d have girl-friend to go do girlie things with. I hope that plan falls into action…

We went to the grocery store two nights ago and the bag boy asked us if we had any plans for the weekend. I said sleep ha! And the boy goes man I’m not looking forward to turning 8 and moving out and going into the real world. Matt was like it will be okay bro, time to grow up. It’s sad when you then look at your own situation and realize that 18 wasn’t that long ago and now im here! craaazy! I don’t wish to be younger I like the anticipation of tomorrow (at least for now).

I have no idea what to do this weekend. Laundry is always on the list during the weekend. I’ll prolly get my nails filled annnnnnddd…see Bride Wars! yeeaaa that’s what I’ll do…maybe Matt and I will go out to dinner or something of that nature.

I’ve recently been thinking about Valentine’s Day and how I haven’t had a Valentine since 8 or 9 years ago. Another pathetic moment, I know…
Now this year I get to do something for someone and it has me pretty excited. People I know are like ew Valentine’s Day it’s made up it was created by Hallmark..well who gives a flying fuck, it’s because you are cold and can’t have a little fun, plus you’re prolly single. I have decided to make Matt breakfast in bed and the menu has still yet been decided.

I need to get a slow cooker so I can make pot roast

I’ve become addicted to Facebook while at work..dunno why, but people like to message me a lot during that time.

I’m going to be an aunt really really soon. My brother is having his first baby in a few days. He has 2 kids through marriage, but this will be the new Hymiller addition. We don’t know if it is a boy or a girl yet…I just wanna see if the baby looks anything like Scott haha. Makes me think what features my children will get from me. 4:32pm…excellent.

You know it’s cold when… January 27, 2009

When your effing fiber one bar is hard to chew and your windshield wiper fluid freezes sometimes…the sometimes being when you need it most! Not only did the snow storm on sunday bring snow, ittt’s pretty damn cold outside. Now, the heating went out at work (this was yesterday) and a heating guy finally came today, but i’m not feeling much of a change. It read 61 when we came in today and I swear it dropped a little more as it approached lunch time. My nose is cold, my hands are freezing, my toes are chilly, and our receptionist went home early b/c she was sick…prolly from catching a cold in t his damn place! Anyway, I’m still dong edits for Rocky Mountain Laboratory. I have give this place a new name, a name I dubbed- Rocky “Horror” Mountain because A. It’s a play on The Rocky Horror Picture Show and B. The edits are driving me nuts. However, to the contrary of mundane exhibits, I am officially building a rocket ship…yes you heard me, a rocket ship. Someone awesome thought it be cool to have one at their exhibit, soooo i am making them an 8 foot one. Pretty sweet and entertaining for the most part, but most importantly it keeps me busy. I wish robert and I got to move into an office. Steve has an old big one that both of us could clearly use, but no we are down here amongst the show room where I reside next to the Yell.com yellow booth.

I went to Petsmart last night and took Sarah, our lab and got a new leash to walk them on and some chewies. We also stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things. I then went home and proceeded to make 2 grilled cheeses and tomato soup ( and yes it was mmmm good). Matt came home at 9 and we watched tv for the night and played our awesome xbox trivia Scene It! game. Were going to be getting a new trivia game soon. I sure hope it’s one I can woop Matt’s ass in since he always juuust barely wins against me in the Scene It! game. I missed Two and Half Men last night :( but maybe DVR recorded it..hmmm. I found Look Who’s Talking Too at the grocery store for 5 bucks. I couldn’t pass it up, and since Matt and I watched the first one on TV the other day, it was appropriate. He seems to make fun of my girlie movies, but whenever he watches then he loves them, like Made of Honor, for example, he was like umm I’m not sure about this one, but he cracked up through the whole thing and said he liked it when it was over. Ha! I win! He’s trying to get me to watch more manly flicks. I’ve been exposed to the movie Predator…that was lame, some horror movies I didn’t mind and so on. He’s trying to get me into Battlestar Galactica and he’s finding ways, sneaky ones, to get me to watch it. Yesterday he exclaims he had watched the new episode and I don’t know what I’m missing. Then states, E! News says it’s the best TV show getting responses right now, or however he phrased it. Key thing is he used E!News to plot his mission to get me watch it. I gave in…sooooo one day you will find me on the couch watching the first few seasons of Battlestar Galactica. We shall see when that day comes.

Matt is off day and I’m envious, but I like coming home and he’s there. Tonight is gym night.

Not Very Eventful January 26, 2009

..as the title states my recent days have not been very exciting to say the least. I worked a few hours on Sat and came home to Matt taking a nap during his split. When he went back he got Chasing Amy , Clerks, and Father of the Bride. Course we watched Father of the Bride and I saved Chasing Amy for Sunday. Sunday I cleaned, vacuumed, and did laundry…fantastic weekend I am aware, but things needed to get done. I put away the clothes from our trip, bc finally I had time to do that.

Right now I have renderings going and they are going to take a loong time, course if they take after 5 phss I’ll see them done tomorrow ha! Sorry I like to work, but I enjoy home life much much more and come 5pm and come weekends I like to leave to enjoy the rest of my night or my days off. I don’t mind putting in a little overtime here and there, but overtime will always suck no matter what, even when you are getting time and half more. Some people don’t mind that kind of life at all, but A. I enjoy sleeping B. I like to relax after 9 hours of work and C. I like spending as much time with Matt as I can get…since our work schedules differ greatly from one another. He wants to start looking around slowly for a new job, it might be best buy still, but if that was the case he would pick one closer to home. His commute is about an hour just one way, while mine is 40 mins on average, with traffic or on with bad weather it can take up to an hour (that’s generally going home). So needless to say we both sacrifice a lot of time away from one another. We, currently, have one of those relationships where us hanging around one another doesn’t get old, and we never get on each others nerves. We like the same stuff and doing the same stuff, so naturally just sitting with each other on the couch is something we consider fun…not to mention the best part of our days. Who knows in the game of life, but so far I got lucky with this roll and. I think most people’s problems with relationships is they don’t find someone as compatible as they would like. Seriously, find someone that enjoys a looot of stuff you do and I tell you it will be smooth sailing. I know you hear opposites attract, and that can be true depending on the person. Here is what I recommend- get an astrology love book where you can look up one anther’s signs and see how compatible you are and also see what kinds of people are not. Might sound stupid, but give one a read next time you are in a book store or are pondering the world wide web.

4:28pm…come on 5!

I just got Office Spaced January 23, 2009

yes just like in the movie Office Space…I got asked to come in tomorrow which is a Saturday for a little bit.

Matt isn’t even coming home tonight. He has to work til close tonight and then has a 5am meeting so he’s sleeping at his friend’s house. Then on Sat he has to work a split and then close. Our night and Saturdays both suck…

A Whirl Wind January 23, 2009

Sat I got my nails done and packed Matt and I up for Vegas. Sunday we both flew out to Las Vegas and landed early afternoon. We were staying at the Wynn hotel which was quite nice if you need an opinion. We met up with Chad and Jess, Matt’s sister when we got to the hotel and had room service which was fantastic! Matt and Jess’ dad and step mom came in 2 or 3 hours after us and we surprised them by going up one by one. Chad and Jess went first and Matt and I watched the last of the very pathetic sad game played by the Ravens. We had been watching the game all day pretty much. Took us awhile where to find a place and one guy selling tickets or whatever came up to us and was like sir are you guys in town tomorrow you can get tickets for a show and take the lovely out to dinner…this is where I stopped him, exclaiming, “Dude I need a sports bar with football on the TV right now, the Ravens are playing and I’m missing the game I just want some freakin football!” The guy was speechless after that and we went back into the hotel and found a place. A guy immediately scooted up to me and goes Baltimore fan? I go hell yes! He goes, Sweet! and turns to his few friends and states hes gonna sit with me because I liked the Ravens and he was tired of sitting with Pittsburgh fans. He was a nice guy, funny and was a graphic designer. Matt, myself, and our new friend ended up making fun of this very drunk girl who we definitely dubbed a call girl because not only did she try to hook up with our new friend she hit on Matt too. It was amusing non the less. Anyway, back to the beginning of the story- Matt and I watched the Raven’s lose (boo!) and headed upstairs to see his dad. He was surprised and happy his kids were there too and I finally got to meet them. We went to dinner few minutes later at the Venetian hotel because my friend Kelly left me 6 free tickets to see Blue Man Group that night. I can’t thank her enough for that! Dinner was good-expensive, but fuck that’s everywhere in vegas. Blue Man Group was incredible. It was funny, it was entertaining, it was just….fantastic! I thought they just beat on weird stuff, but I was wrong. So if you find yourself in vegas goooo see Blue Man Group!!!!

Next day we basically walked the whole day…ugh…whoever laid out las vegas iiiimm sorry, but whaat in the hell were you thinking????!! Anyway…Matt and I did gamble and we learned mmmmm we kiiinda suck at it. We did rename Steve Wynn Skelator thanks to Chad. I still crack up about that…. After going from hotel to hotel and my feet kiiiiiillling me even in super comfy Ugg boots, we made it down to the Tropicana to see the comedy show there that night. The show was decent not as good as the first time I was there, but otherwise good. Seriously after that I was tired, but we ended up staying up a lil bit and hanging out in the casino and on the terrace to watch the huge water fountain and the 1/2 hour shows…which were gay. Matt got druuunk that night, but at least my boyfriend is a happy drunk ha!

Our last day we were there we just simply hung out. Walked around, found out the awesome pop art exhibit was closed…god dammit. However we did see the Bodies exhibit and the Titanic artifacts exhibit which was pretty sweet. After all that we got dinner and then went over to the Pirate show that goes on nightly outside Treasure Island. Cool show, def. more adult. Pretty much after that show I was ready for bed, sadly it wasn’t even 9 yet. Matt and I rented Zach and Miri Make a Porno from our room and watched that. Hilarious! Katie Morgan is in it and we watch her lil sex show on HBO which is always entertaining because she’s so goofy. We left the next day and were glad to be home!

After all the food in vegas Matt and I are now on a diet lol, fooor real I felt like I was just stuffed the whole trip. We slept in Thursday and he went off to get a haircut while I got ready for the Jeff Dunham show we were seeing that night. The show was great, shorter than I thought, but entertaining. Achmed the dead terrorist was on point and Peanut was pretty amusing. All and all we had a gooood lil vacation. I’m back to work today, but tomorrow’s the weekend so I can’t complain on how I scheduled that one!

Oh! SLC is muuugggyyy and I wanna know who’s brilliant idea it was to mark the roads with while paint for lane lines….is it juuust me or when there is bad weather you can’t freakin seeeeeeeeeee the lannnes or anything! Hellloooo use like neon orange or something noticeable geeezzz. Pictures to come in this post soon!

Chillin January 17, 2009

So this past Thursday I ended up working 12 hours…yea, i know. It wouldn’t have been bad except it was just one of those days I just wanted to go home. It made me go home grumpy. I got home and just wanted to eat and sleep. I wanted to cook but at the same time just couldn’t find the will to fix anything so I called up Matt to bring home breakfast burritos…combo of ham, potatoes, little bit of cheese, and I think egg? Anyway it’s good and I wanted something hearty. Friday I was kept busy and soon as that clock hit 5 I was ouuuuuut! I came home, slept til Matt came home and after I got up we settled on the couch and he let me watch What Not to Wear on TLC haha. Then I wanted to watch Made of Honor which of course he was not sure about that going down. I told him he would like it and sure enough he was laughing through it. I like how he complains bout a girlie movie but will end up loving it. When will he learn that everything I pick is awesome! ha! I’m glad it is the weekend! We leave tomorrow for VEGAS! WOO! My friend Kelly, who works as the stage manager for Blue Man Group is being nice enough to offer me and my group tickets for tomorrow night. Thanks Kelly! Today I plan on cleaning and packing annnnnd doing laundry. Maybe I’ll cook hahah. I Skyped with a good friend of mine, Danielle and her mom joined hah. She got the tour of the house to the best of my ability and we chatted. She got my awesome bread recipe. Now I am watching Split Ends on Style and I just freshly dyed my hair. Oh my Ugg boots came last night and that made me happy lol…it’s the little things in life, like when your boyfriend comes home with a Disney Trivia game for you (yes he actually did that this past week). That’s pretty much the scoop for now, I’ll have plllennnty of stories from Vegas when I get back. Caio!

In The Words of Bill Engvall- “Oh Ma Gawd!” January 15, 2009

Any of you who have seen the Blue Collar Comedy movies or know Bill Engvall’s stand up or TBS show, knows very well his “Oh Ma Gawd” line. That is how my morning has been. Let’s just say…thank you person for not following specific instructions and making our design department backed up all morning and causing headaches one after the other! ridiculous…I know this stuff happens, but really?

Anyway, I came home tired and blah last night. We still went to our yoga class…brutal is what i have to say to that, except the last 10 mins or so when we just relax. I suppose it’s worth it ha, I can just be a grump about things sometimes.

We ended up watching Look Who’s Talking last night and Nine Months on TV…I know you see a pattern, but it’s what was on. In the movie Nine Months, Hugh Grant’s character in the end dances with his baby to soft music…Matthew decided to exclaim that he would be doing that, only with Lamb of God playing…this is a metal band folks. Of course I gave him the “What in the world is wrong with you?” look…I mean, you know those parents you let their kids listen to Bach or Beethoven while the baby is still in the womb? Yea those people…, yea my kid will be the baby introduced to metal music and rock n roll while still in the womb. Pleasant image, I’m aware, but I could think of worse things that would corrupt my future children. While on the topic of the future…my last post, mother made an excellent point about how most relationships fail and that to have fun and take one step at a time is how things should be. Maybe I just understand this, but to those who don’t, there is today’s little piece of advice.

I have to get back to today’s headache going on in the office…at least Grey’s Anatomy is on tonight and tomorrow is Friday…
